In her day Wanderer II was the type of boat preferred by large numbers of the cruising fraternity who had not yet subscribed to the modern preference for long overhangs and the bermudan rig.  For that reason alone the hull form is worthy of study.  Since she was intended for serious cruising draft was not unduly limited which must have been a key factor in achieving such pleasing buttocks and transverse body sections.

To retain certain individual characteristics of design, and to keep that design fairly near his own ideals for a yacht while still satisfying entirely the owner’s particular wants is no light undertaking.  Yet in this 4½ton cutter Laurent Giles succeeded in providing a real ocean cruiser in miniature with easy lines and run in a comparatively beamy hull, in spite of the very short overhang forward and a transom stern.  The transom, nicely raked and all out of the water, is the key to the very modern underwater body, and perhaps the reason why this hefty little cruiser does not look as if she had been built around the cabin!
