By the time that Richard Mayew’s letter was received in December 1975, the Giles team were already considering the detailed designed drawings for a fiberglass hulled Vertue – but this was not for series production; the C-flex construction drawings were to be offered but only provided that enough enquiries were received, or alternatively on payment of a small extra fee.
So when Richard asked for the design package to include a GRP hull which would be professionally built and then finished by him in Western Australia these revised drawings were offered with those conditions.
After some lengthy consideration Richard selected the carvel planked steamed timber construction, the lead keel, slutter rig with alloy spars and the ocean cruising deck works and cabin layout.

Full set of Stock Building Plans
Full construction drawings are available for the Vertue. There are many options available: a new Vertue can be constructed from the original pre 1938 or post 1945 drawings, or if preferred using strip plank construction or for steel construction. In all cases full lofting (with full size templates for the strip plank version), hull and deck works construction, rigging and outfit drawings will be provided.
