As with Farida a year before, Cerida was built originally for Clark – a shareholder of the Boatyard which built her. Giles drew eight working drawings – his usual scope of supply which included of course the lines and table of offsets for lofting full size, the hull construction and deck-works construction plans and the sail and rigging plans.
There are 10 owners listed in the Archive her fourth being the Marquie Luca Ferrero di Ventimiglia who was the first of a dozen or so eminent Italian owners while she carried the name Questing. Ferrero later commissioned Giles to design Ninfea (design number 0243) – the only multihull pleasure yacht to come from his pen, and a 60’ ocean racing yawl in 1959. This impressive yacht although tank tested at Saunders Roe in 1960 and designed to the last detail was intended for construction by Sangermani was not built.
