In 1938, Mr Dawney commissioned Elkins of Christchurch to construct for him the fourth Vertue based on the construction arrangements, rig and interior layout that was to become the ‘standard’ Elkins version.
She too was based on the hull lines of Andrillot with the same overall dimensions and the frame spacing and arrangements as Monie.
Up until 1978 there are ten owners listed including Lord Russell of Liverpool who had at the time of Charis’ construction commissioned Triune of Troy the third of the Laurent Giles 38 foot Channel class (design number 0028).
