The plans for this Vertue were initially ordered as a standard two berth arrangement with modified deck works and the masthead rig. Later after a budget review and discussions with the owner of Vertue 140 which was at the time under construction in Australia Mr Goodmanson ordered the gaff rig sail and rigging plans of Andrillot prior to the yacht being commissioned sometime after March 1973.
The initial plan set was ordered in September 1969 – we have no record of who the builders were but for the fact that ‘they nearly went bankrupt’ during construction and the build period was therefore somewhat longer than had been expected. The owner who had during that time moved home from Dunedin to Christchurch took delivery of just the completed hull and deck works.
The hull was planked with Kauri with mainly Jarra and Karri beams.

Full set of Stock Building Plans
Full construction drawings are available for the Vertue. There are many options available: a new Vertue can be constructed from the original pre 1938 or post 1945 drawings, or if preferred using strip plank construction or for steel construction. In all cases full lofting (with full size templates for the strip plank version), hull and deck works construction, rigging and outfit drawings will be provided.
