At her press launch in December of 1959 Audacity was described by her commissioning owner’s The News Chronicle Newspaper as the successor to the National Enterprise – the remarkable sailing dinghy inaugurated by that publication and whose numbers at that time had increased to 3,600 within four years. She was meant primarily for the family man or syndicates of friends who want to spend their weekends and holidays afloat.
The direct descendant of Jack Giles’ famous boat called Trekka and at the time Trekka was the smallest yacht to have circled the globe. It is not suggested that Audacity could do the same in anybody’s hands but she will carry her owners to any cruising ground within the reach of Britain.
