The Scimitar’s hull was extensively tested in the Saunders Roe tank at Cowes, using a popular keel-boat type as a yardstick, and her performance afloat certainly confirmed the promising results of her tank tests.

Scimitar is similar in size to the popular XOD class and is constructed in fiberglass with polyester resin.

The cockpit is divided into two parts and the masthead rig is adjustable fore and aft to quite wide limits. She was conceived for club racing, handles easily and is quick in stays, but equally suitable for the family man.
