The Westerly 33® yachts were designed to fall between the Westerly 31 and 36 models and was a very successful design, none the less it was replaced in 1980 with the lighter Westerly 33 Discus, also known as the ‘bridge deck 33’.
Westerly Marine had, during its association with Laurent Giles, established a reputation for its solid cruising yachts which were offered with various keel, rig and cockpit arrangements.
The aft cockpit sloop rigged Discus came with a three cabin layout and was to be the penultimate design collaboration from the two companies’ until after Westerly’s financial restructuring in 1985.
If you own a Discus or Westerly 33 we would be pleased to hear from you.
