This 22’ waterline racing sloop was designed for Lt. Col. Ormonde Derby who later built Bettine; the first Brittany class and Bettine Jnr. Vertue number V18. However it was Royal Burnham Yacht Club member Gurth Kimber who had previously owned Aline IV and Lorna III who is listed as the first owner of Searigs.
Planked in ¾” western Red Cedar with a single English Elm garboard strake the keelson was from Elm and posts English Oak. A great deal of effort was put into weight saving with Western Red cedar used for all of the furniture.
