This design for a wooden fast auxiliary was prepared for the head of BP in Northern Italy, who shortly after the launch of Cadama became president of the Milan Soccer Association better known as AC Milan football club.
Not a great deal is known about the early years of Cadama but the design brief was for a fast and weatherly hull, low profile deck saloon and deck coamings, a large owners cabin aft and two double bunked cabins forward. The two were provided with their own cabin plus head and shower cabin and adjacent mess area. Helmed from and the sails controlled from a very large and deep aft cockpit, forward of which there is a broad and long sun bathing deck aft of the deck saloon and main companionway.
More recently in 2014 Cadama was purchased by Andrea Brigatti who’s aim was to adapt her for his Accessible Boat Project – she is today the first fully accessible historical sailing boat capable of safely hosting up to four people in wheelchairs while sailing, with full wheelchair access ‘the idea of an sail boat enabling people with disabilities in general and paraplegics in particular to take on sailing, actually putting effort in the navigation. Not simply an accessible vessel but one where we could actually live aboard’
