Roger had been in correspondence with Laurent Giles M.D. Bill Matthew for some time prior to ordering the plans in June 1975 for his sloop rigged wooden Vertue. He selected the long doghouse and short cockpit and the three berth arrangement.
Roger had been concerned that as a novice builder he would need a great deal of technical support and back up from the design firm and in Bill’s acknowledgement to the order he wrote ‘Having paid your royalty, you may certainly approach us with technical queries on particular problems within reasonable limits, and we will always do our best to answer them’. Today the Laurent Giles Archive offers the same attitude towards customer service – pre and after sales.

Full set of Stock Building Plans
Full construction drawings are available for the Vertue. There are many options available: a new Vertue can be constructed from the original pre 1938 or post 1945 drawings, or if preferred using strip plank construction or for steel construction. In all cases full lofting (with full size templates for the strip plank version), hull and deck works construction, rigging and outfit drawings will be provided.
