Mr. Wade a Lloyds surveyor based in Bombay required drawings to build a Vertue at the time that he would return to the UK in 1976. In his June 1975 letter he suggested that he might ship back the necessary teak as it was readily available in India. He also discussed the possibility of building in G.R.P and asked if any progress had been made in this respect.
In 1976 the royalty fee of £135 was required in advance but on this occasion because of Mr Wade’s position within Lloyds the Partners accepted an initial payment of £100 for release of the drawings and the balance on release of the table of offsets at commencement of construction. We have checked the financial tables and it seems that the 1975 royalty fee of £135 equates to £1,050 in today’s money!
Obviously experienced Mr Wade required the short cockpit/long doghouse arrangement, carvel planking on steamed timbers with a lead keel, three sleeping berths and the slutter rig.
