The fourth of five Vertues which started construction in 1996, Ken wanted to build using strip plank construction for which there were already comprehensive construction plans. The 1946 carvel construction drawing which had been prepared for Kishti V.12 was also supplied for information on some of the contemporary shipwrights details.
Not the Vertue Mk II lofting: Ken preferred the 1946 lines plan with the standard more swept lower sheer line. To accompany the short doghouse deck arrangement he also selected the interior arrangement of Vertue XXV from among the dozen or so different interior layouts which are available.
Probably the most popular rig until the Vertue II single spreader masthead sloop, the masthead slutter offered Ken the versatility of a choice of head sails he required for ocean passage making. Unusually rather than buy a proprietary vane self steering gear Ken chose to manufacture a custom model from the Laurent Giles standard fittings plan number F961
