The design was prepared for the owners of Mia which was the fourth of the Laurent Giles designed Donella Class (design number 0361) and cruised extensively throughout the world while in their ownership. Via Maris was then sold in 2008, underwent a major refit and was renamed Bucephalus.
Jack Giles created the hull lines with a bold sheer, plenty of forward flare and of course his signature forward knuckle which featured so often on his motor sailers and cruising sailing yacht designs from that era.
Giles again leant towards over specified construction scantlings and this was certainly true of Via Maris’ aluminium hull scantlings which are in excess of Lloyds scantling requirements. Huismans constructed the hull long before they became so well known for Superyacht construction.
