The 28’ 6” foot Konsort was introduced into the Westerly range to fill the gap between the 26 foot Centaur and the 31 footers (Longbow, Renown etc,). The original concepts were by the hand of Partner Dick Stower who had then been largely responsible for the Westerly business. The majority of detailed design work was undertaken by Barry van Geffen and this along with the W 33 Discus were his last projects with the company before leaving to join the team at Ed Dubois.

Konsort proved to be popular right from the outset with eight hundred and twelve built between 1979 and 1992. Designed very much with the cruising yachtsman in mind, the emphasis was on performance combined with comfortable, spacious accommodation, ease of handling and robustness of construction. The Twin keel version proved most popular with a draft of just 3′ 2½”, but a 5’ 4” single fin version was also offered.
